Sara Sprague CD(BAI) PES (PBiU)
My name is Sara and I am a certified birth doula, certified placenta encapsulation specialist, and complete birth nerd. I have 3 children of my own, 2 girls and 1 boy. My passion for birth started when I was a teenager, but really blossomed in 2011 when I had my first child. My passion has continued to intensify with each pregnancy that I have had since. My philosophy of birth is that your body was made to do this. I also know that, even though you were made to do this, the story doesn’t always unfold that way, and I will be here to help you through whatever your birth throws at you and your family to make sure that every decision you make, is made with confidence, knowledge, and an open mind. I believe that every birth story is unique and special. My goal as a birth doula is to offer you with non-biased, non-judgmental, and evidence-based information, as well as, physical and emotional support through out your pregnancy, labor and while you bring your child into this earth. This is YOUR birth. Lets make this the best experience that we can! Birth can be filled with so many emotions for you and your family. I would be honored to be part of this journey with you.
I believe that birth is a normal physiological process that we go through. I believe the body knows what to do and is capable of achieving birth on it's own, in most cases. I also believe modern medicine has gifted us with the ability to succeed when things do not go as smoothly.
I believe that your birth and postpartum experiences as exactly that, yours. I would love to come and support your desires and wishes on how you choose to welcome your baby into this world.
Here are some fun facts about me to get a feel of who I am:
1) I have 4 children. I have 2 girls and 1 boy, and 1 angel baby.
2)I have had 2 hospital births and 1 Home birth.
3)I love animals. We have 2 cats, 1 rabbit, 1 hamster, 2 rats, and 5 fish. I feel like it is a small zoo in my house.
4)I love all things related to birth. I also plan on attending school in the next few years to become a home birth midwife. In my free time, I read all things related to birth and watch birth videos. There is an awesome group on facebook called birthtube, where families live stream their births. My kids love watching the live videos with me.
5)I would love to have a big family some day!I love not only having a lot of kids, but I love having all that family to surround myself in.
6)My favorite part of being a doula is watching eager parents bring their child into this world, and seeing the joy in their face and the "we did it!" expressions. Experiencing birth during this sacred time is such an honor and blessing.
